EMF: What is It, Why is It Harmful & Hacks for Minimizing Your Exposure

What is EMF?

EMF stands for electromagnetic fields and there are two forms found on earth.

We have natural EMFs like solar radiation (radiation from the sun) and the earth’s magnetic field, which are very supportive for life.

The issue arises with non-native EMF’s. These are electromagnetic fields that are non-native and as they are emitted from man-made technology.

Where are non-native EMFs hiding in our world today?

They are radiated off of radio frequencies, electric fields, magnetic fields, “dirty” electricity, and geopathic stress. Here’s a breakdown on each:

Radio frequencies (or RF): Smart meters, cell phones/ cell towers, cordless phones, microwave ovens, bluetooth-enabled devices, X-rays, MRIs, computers, baby monitors, WiFi, aviation radar, motion sensors, radio transmitters, and wireless or “smart” appliances.

Electric fields: Wiring in buildings, power cables, computers, televisions, light fixtures, wall outlets, and various electronics (especially when plugged in).

Magnetic fields: Appliances with motors, hairdryers, electric toothbrushes, vibrating sex toys, automobiles, power lines, and faulty wiring in buildings.

Dirty electricity: Dimmer switches, fluorescent bulbs, faulty wiring, poorly designed or managed power grids, and some appliances and tech devices.

Geopathic stress: This is a natural form of EMF that is created by the sun's magnetic field when it meets cracks in the surface of the earth, known as lay lines or fault lines, or underground veins of running water.

There are two other types of lighting that do not emmit EMFs, but are found in abundance in our day-to-day lives that cause the same issues as EMFs: Blue light and light flicker.

Blue light: Non-native blue light is light outside of the sun's natural spectrum of color, emitting a very narrow range of light, which is disruptive to our circadian biology. And to be honest, its a shit show when it comes to your health and wellbeing.

Light flicker: Another non-native source of light produced by LED and fluorescent bulbs, phones, and computers. These lights turn on and off too fast for us to visually interpret, but are still extremely damaging to your eyes and brain.

What’s the issue with EMFs?

Now that we know what EMFs are, why are they something we want to avoid? Here are a few common symptoms:

  • Sleep disturbances/Insomnia

  • Brain fog/lack of concentration

  • Excessive tiredness and fatigue

  • Headaches

  • Irritability

  • Anxiety

  • Depression

Plus, research has shown there to be many links between cancer/deadly diseases and EMF.

If you find yourself doing everything right to decrease depression, increase your energy levels, or optimize your brain, and you’re still struggling, I would highly recommend considering your level of exposure to EMFs on a daily basis.

What are some simple hacks for reducing your EMF exposure?

We live in a world full of EMFs. Limiting our level of exposure may seem daunting, so what are some realistic things we can do to help limit how much we are exposed to daily? Here’s a great place to start:

Spend time outside in nature.

If you life in the city, get out the city and give your body a chance to recuperate.

Switch to using a gas stove.

If you don't have a gas line into the house, replace your electric stove with a propane-fueled gas stove. Making the switch to propane will be more expensive, but there is no difference in monthly expenses.

Remove your microwave oven.

If you can't remove it, at least unplug it. Instead, toaster ovens are safe as long as you keep your distance while they're on.

As for microwaves, the only thing they're suitable for is storing your phone and devices, as microwaves are faraday cages—meaning they block radiation.

Avoid using fluorescent lights in your home.

Don’t carry your phone in a pocket. Try to carry your phone in a bag when you’re out and about.

Use an EMF blocking case or shield on all your devices.

If you have bluetooth wireless headphones (like everyone on this earth), you should definitely consider putting an EMF shield over them.

For your phone, keep in mind this still will only block EMFs from the front of your phone, so try to keep your phone as far away from you as possible when using it. I personally like to use headphones when chatting on the phone.

Unplug occasionally from electronic devices and electricity.

Take a day off from electronics, or even several days. Your body will thank you!

Supplement.

Supplements like hydrogen and magnesium are extremely effective ways to limit the cellular damage caused by EMFs. I personally take BiOptimizers Magnesium Breakthrough daily. I have another blog post talking to the other amazing benefits of supplementing with magnesium.

You can grab your own Mag Breakthrough here and get 10% off using code ALIGN10.

So…what’s next?

There is so much more to learn about EMFs, making it impossible to cover everything in this simple blog post. If you’re concerned about the effect EMFs is having on your health and overall wellbeing, and want to learn more, I highly recommend getting access to Luke Storey’s EMF course. You can use code "ALIGN" for 10% off at checkout.

We focus so heavily on our fitness and nutrition for optimizing our health, but the truth is, we will fail feel our best if we continue to allow ourselves to be exposed to high-levels of non-native things, whatever that may be.

Inside the course, Luke gives you all the information and guidance you need to effectively protect yourself, your home, and your family from the dangers of EMF and 5G.

Personally, this course was extremely educational for me and greatly raised my awareness around how EMFs are effecting my body and how I can take action into my own hands.

If you are serious about optimizing your health, I cannot recommend Luke Storey’s EMF class enough. To gain access, click here and use code "ALIGN" for 10% off at checkout.
